Michigan Bear Hunt & Sportsman Package

This action-packed Sportsman Package, featuring a baited Black Bear hunt, is conducted in the game rich Western Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan.  The 3 or 6 Day Sportsman Package is conducted at our Lake Gogebic Lodge and can be taken from late September thru late October.  The baited bear hunts are conducted in the afternoons.  Clients may spend the mornings (or evenings for those that tag out early) as follows:  grouse hunting, whitetail deer hunting, fishing, golfing, or other outdoor activities.  Meals, lodging, guides for bear hunts, baited bear sites, and game retrieval are all included in our package.

2018 Last Minute Specials:

5 Day Hunt: Regular $3,000,  Special $2,000
3 Day Hunt: Regular $1,500,  Special $1,000
$500 trophy fee for 3 day hunt only.
Licenses are not included ($40 for MI resident) and had 100% draw success last year for Michigan residents. The closest airport is Duluth, MN (2.5 hours from the camp).
Bears average 200-300lbs but some of the biggest bears in Michigan come out of this territory each year. With over a million acres of prime habitat  to hunt and a high density of  black bears makes this trip very enjoyable for our clients.  The 3 or 6 day Sportsman Package includes the following:
  • Afternoon baited bear hunts
  • Mornings may be spent deer hunting, grouse hunting, fishing, golfing, hitting nearby ATV or Kayak trails, or just enjoying the peace and serenity of Lake Gogebic at the lodge.  Clients must bring their own dogs for grouse hunting and their own boats for fishing.
  • Baited bear sites with ground blinds provided.  Hunters are welcome to bring their own climbing stands.
  • Lodging (See below for additional info)
  • Meals include continental breakfast, hot and hearty homemade lunches and dinners.
  • Game retrieval
  • You can also bring along non-hunters ($1000) who just want to get away and enjoy the beauty of the lake and its surroundings.  Lodging and meals are provided for non-hunters.

We recommend you using a high caliber bullet or a broadhead that will leave a big hole such as a Rage. Black Bears are extremely hard to kill especially if your shot placement is not perfect. A slug gun is a great weapon for bear. Leave the low caliber and fast bullets at home. Most rifle shots are within 50 yards and bow shots within 30 yards. You will be hunting over bait primarily out of ground blinds, or your own climbing stand if preferred.

Lake Gogebic, the largest inland lake in the U.P. of Michigan, encompasses 13,380 acres with 38 miles of beautiful shoreline and boasts more state angler awards than any other lake in the Upper Peninsula. Species on Lake Gogebic include Northern Pike, Walleye, Perch, Crappie, and Smallmouth Bass.

The Western U.P. of Michigan features some of the finest grouse habitat in the country!  Both grouse and woodcock are plentiful in the aspen-filled forests surrounding our lodge. Hunters are welcome to bring their dogs with them.
